DHAKA, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has started receiving election materials for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, with shipments arriving at its Agargaon headquarters in Dhaka.

Supplies have been arriving at the EC headquarters in Agargaon since early September under work orders issued several months ago.
At least six types of materials are being delivered in phases, with the consignments recorded last Thursday and again today.

Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed, Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz, along with other senior officials, today visited the warehouse in the basement of the EC building to inspect the procured items. During the visit, they examined various polling materials.

The materials include ballot boxes, locks, lids, gunny bags, seals, different types of forms, and packets, among others.

According to the EC’s announced work plan, forms and packets are scheduled to be distributed to field-level offices between September 16 and November 16.

“Today we held a meeting regarding the annual procurement plan. Election materials have already started arriving,” EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told BSS.

“We have already received almost half of some types of materials, while others are yet to arrive. We hope to receive all required items within the stipulated timeframe,” said EC Additional Secretary K M Ali Newaz.

There are 126,161,201 voters in 300 constituencies across 64 districts under 10 regions, said Akhtar Ahmed, adding, “Based on an average of one polling centre for every 3,000 voters, a total of 42,618 polling centres have been proposed, with 244,046 polling booths in total. The final list of polling centres will be published on October 20.”

Regarding procurement, the EC Senior Secretary recently told journalists that all items except brass seals and sealing wax are being delivered on schedule. “We are hopeful that all materials will be in hand by the end of September,” he added.
