CHATTOGRAM, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk-e-Azam has called for an impartial and merit-based evaluation of sports organizers and athletes, urging an end to politically motivated interference in the management of sports in the country.

Speaking at a discussion with the CJKS Club Association, an alliance of clubs under the Chattogram District Sports Association (CJKS), on Saturday afternoon, Faruk-e-Azam stressed that sports organizations must be assessed based on performance, competence, and dedication, not on their political leanings.

"For the sports sector to thrive, we must remove political biases and allow genuine talents and dedicated organizers to flourish," he said. "Ensuring financial solvency of sports clubs is crucial to organize leagues and tournaments nationwide."

He also revealed that under the interim government's reform agenda, steps are being taken to allocate grants to sports-related clubs through the government-approved Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund, aiming to enhance infrastructure and support grassroots sporting initiatives.

During the event, Adviser Faruk-e-Azam expressed appreciation to the officials of the newly formed CJKS Club Association, commending their unity and initiative to invigorate the sporting landscape in Chattogram. He underscored the importance of collective effort in reviving and sustaining sporting activities.

The meeting, chaired by Advocate Shaheen Aftabur Reza Chowdhury, President of the CJKS Club Association, and moderated by General Secretary Syed Shahabuddin Shamim, became a platform for club representatives to raise urgent concerns about the declining condition of sports grounds and the inactivity of sports institutions across the country.

They urged the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council, and the President of CJKS to expedite the long-pending elections of district-level sports bodies to restore vibrancy in the local sports arena, particularly in Chattogram.

City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Dainik Azadi Editor M. A. Malek, CJKS Club Association Advisor Syed Abul Bashar, Vice President Nazrul Islam Ledu, and several other dignitaries were present at the event and echoed similar sentiments in support of depoliticizing and revitalizing the sports sector.
