DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) – The River Police has planned to ensure optimum security at Puja Mandaps and idol immersion venues under its jurisdiction across the country during the Sharadiya Durga Puja celebrations.
The decision was made at a view-exchange meeting held today at the River Police Headquarters, with Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kusum Dewan in the chair, said a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, the River Police chief directed all officers and staff, including superintendents of police working in 11 regions of the force, to strengthen security measures in their respective jurisdictions to ensure smooth celebrations of the upcoming Durga Puja beginning at the end of this month.
He said River Police security will be reinforced to prevent any untoward incidents during the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
The River Police chief also instructed the regional superintendents to ensure security at important Puja Mandaps while maintaining a festive atmosphere.
He expressed gratitude to the leaders of the Dhaka Mohanagar Puja Udjapon Committee for attending the meeting.
The DIG, additional DIGs, superintendents of police, additional superintendents, and leaders of various ranks of Puja Udjapon Committees attended the meeting both in person and virtually.
In their remarks, Puja Committee leaders underscored the need for strengthening naval patrols to prevent any unwanted or unpleasant incidents on waterways from the beginning of Durga Puja until the immersion of Goddess Durga’s idols.
