DHAKA, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh and Guatemala have pledged to explore new avenues of cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations in trade, investment, and multilateral engagement.
The vows were made when Bangladesh's Ambassador to Mexico with concurrent accreditation to Guatemala Mushfiqur Fazal Ansari presented his credentials to Guatemala's Vice Foreign Minister Monica Bolanos Perez on Tuesday, according to a message received here today.
At a subsequent meeting, both sides underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Vice Foreign Minister Perez lauded Bangladesh's significant contributions to United Nations peacekeeping operations, while Ambassador Mushfiq proposed that a Guatemalan business delegation visit Dhaka to explore opportunities in Bangladesh's competitive sectors such as ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, leather and jute products.
Later, Ambassador Mushfiq also met with Lindsay Hernandez, Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and assured Bangladesh's full cooperation in advancing ties.
The envoy attended a reception marking the 204th anniversary of Guatemala's independence, where Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martinez welcomed him and discussed issues of mutual interest and multilateral cooperation.
As part of his visit, Ambassador Mushfiq toured a Bangladeshi-owned garment factory in Guatemala and praised the venture as a vital example of strengthening economic ties and fostering people-to-people friendship between the two countries.
