JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD)-backed 'Sadi-Baishakhi-Sazzad-Ikra' panel today declared its eight-point manifesto ahead of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) polls, scheduled to be held on September 11, focusing on quality education, research and safety of the campus.

The manifesto was declared at a press conference here held around 12:30 pm in front of "Adommo 24," the country's first monument commemorating the July uprising on the campus.

Vice-President (VP) candidate Sheikh Sadi Hasan announced the manifesto on behalf of the panel.

The pledges outlined in the manifesto include ensuring international standard education and research; creating a student-friendly, safe, liberal, and diverse campus; improving residential facilities and food quality; ensuring campus safety and healthcare for female students; providing quality healthcare; introducing a coordinated transport system; promoting sports and cultural diversity; and conserving environment and biodiversity for an eco-friendly campus.

Reading out a written statement, Sadi Hasan said, "Jahangirnagar University has been waiting 33 long years for this election. Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, which won the last three JUCSU elections, has consistently demanded the revival of this democratic exercise."

The long-anticipated moment had finally arrived, he added.

According to the VP candidate, JCD had fought against fascism to build a safe, student-friendly, diverse, and international-standard academic
environment and had never deviated from that goal.

"Our eight commitments outlined in our manifesto reflected the students' hopes and aspirations, and the panel will work collectively to implement those," he added.

Earlier on August 28, the JU unit of JCD announced its full panel, nominating Sheikh Sadi Hasan for VP, Tanzila Hossain Boishakhi for General Secretary (GS), Md Sazzadul Islam for Joint General Secretary (JGS, male), and Anjuman Ara Ikra for Joint General Secretary (JGS, female).
