One Bangladeshi killed in Delhi fire

DHAKA, June 5, 2026 (BSS) - A Bangladeshi national was among 22 people killed in a devastating hotel fire in New Delhi, while the Bangladesh High
Commission is providing assistance to affected victims and facilitating the repatriation of the deceased's remains.

Bangladeshi national Md. Nurul Amin, 44, was among the 22 people from seven countries who lost their lives in the fire Wednesday, according to the
Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.

In a statement issued on Thursday night, the mission said it is taking necessary measures to ensure the swift repatriation of the deceased's mortal
remains to Bangladesh.

The High Commission said two Bangladeshi families were particularly affected
by the fire that broke out on June 3.

Both families had been staying at the hotel while undergoing medical treatment at the nearby Max Hospital in New Delhi.

The mission said it remains in constant contact with the injured victims and their family members who are receiving treatment at different hospitals in
the Indian capital.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Riaz Hamidullah visited all Bangladeshi nationals undergoing treatment at Max Hospital and inquired about their
condition with the attending physicians.

Officials of the High Commission have been stationed at the hospital round-the-clock to coordinate with the patients and hospital authorities and
respond to any emergency situation, the statement said.

The mission is also maintaining close communication with the Indian authorities to ensure necessary medical care, assistance and support for the
affected Bangladesh nationals.
