JS passes SC's Judges (travelling allowance) bill

   DHAKA, Nov 28, 2021 (BSS) - Bangladesh Supreme Court Judges (Travelling Allowance) Act, 2021 was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad today. 

   Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq moved the bill in the house which was unanimously passed by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhruy in the chair. 

   Before passing the bill, the law minister said "since the facilities are being given to the justices and there was no objection on this issue, so, the facilities could be entitled by the justice."

  Earlier on Saturday, these two bills were placed in parliament to raise the allowances of the chief justice and the judges of the Appellate Division and the High Court. 

   The bills are Bangladesh Supreme Court Judges (Remuneration and Privileges) Act, 2021 and Bangladesh Supreme Court Judges (Travelling Allowance) Act, 2021. 

   The Bangladesh Supreme Court Judges (Remuneration and Privileges) Act, 2021 will replace the existing ordinance of 1978 while the Bangladesh Supreme Court Judges (Travelling Allowance) Act, 2021 will replace an ordinance of 1976.
