DHAKA, Aug 14, 2025 (BSS) – Education Minister Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar has vowed to take action against negligence of concerned teachers in examining the answer scripts of the public examinations as a good number of unsuccessful students passed in the reexamination of their answer sheets of the recently published SSC and equivalent examinations.
“Against whom the allegations of negligence in the evaluation of the exam papers of SSC students are proved will be brought to book,” he said in an exclusive interview with BSS at his ministry office today.
Perhaps, they will not be given the exam papers to evaluate and they will be kept away from the examination process, he said.
The adviser said that after publishing the SSC and equivalent exam results this year, a total of 3,27, 271 students applied for re-evaluation of their answer sheets.
Among the applicants, 2096 failed students have passed the exams through the re-evaluation and 951 have got GPA 5. A total of 139 students of the Madrasha Education Board who failed earlier got GPA 5 in the re-examination of their exam papers.
The adviser said that he was surprised to see the results of the re-evaluation, adding, “Action will be taken against those involved in the mess after confirming their identities.”
He said that a meeting of the education board chairmen will soon be called to take a final decision on this matter.
Further directions will be given based on the opinions received from them, he added.
The education adviser said that recently, students who failed in the SSC exam had applied for re-examination.
“We saw that many of them were successful in the re-examination results and passed. It is very good that the students passed. However, our point is that the exam papers should be evaluated in such a way that not a single student is deprived of his/her correct evaluation,” he said.
“Abrar said that no negligence of the teachers concerned will be tolerated in examining the exam papers as they are given appropriate honorarium in this regard. Therefore, teachers have to evaluate the students' records responsibly. No laxity will be tolerated in this regard,” he said. .
The education boards will also have to be more conscious in distributing the exam papers, he said, adding that a standard will be fixed in this regard.
Abrar said that the existing rules and regulations of the Ministry of Education are in force regarding the undervaluation of exam papers.
“Even then, it is seen that many teachers do not evaluate the exam papers themselves rather get the exam papers evaluated by the students or their children. Therefore, I would say that those concerned should be more careful and aware in this regard,” he said.
The education adviser said that the number of students who passed after failing completely is over 2000.
“As a teacher, I can guess how mental ordeals they had to go through every day. I apologize to them,” he said.
He said teachers must ensure that every examinee should get the correct number, no matter how much it costs.
