Water level in 29 rivers rises, 85 falls: FFWC

DHAKA, July 5, 2025 (BSS) - Water levels at 29 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 85 stations recorded fall.

Among the 119 monitored river stations, water levels at five stations have remained steady while no stations are flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The FFWC bulletin said the water level of the Teesta River is rising, which may continue for the next 24 hours and may decrease over the following two days. Within the next 24 hours, the water level of the Teesta River may flow near the warning level  in Nilphamari, Rangpur, and Lalmonirhat districts. 

The water level of the Surma River remains steady, while the water level of the Kushiyara River is rising but still flowing below the danger level. In the next 24 hours, the water level of the Surma River may remain stable,  whereas the Kushiyara River’s water level may continue to rise. 

The water levels of both the Surma and Kushiyara Rivers may rise and flow near the warning level  in Sylhet district. 

The water level of the Brahmaputra River remains stable, whereas the water level of the Jamuna River is  decreasing, which may continue for the next 2 days and then rise over the subsequent three days.
 
The water level of the Ganges River remains stable, which may continue for 1 more day and is likely to rise over the next 4 days. On the other hand, the water level of the Padma River is decreasing, which may continue for the next 2 days and remain steady over the following 3 days. During this time, the rivers are expected to flow below the danger level.

In the Chattogram division, the water levels of the Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers are rising, while the water level of the Halda River is decreasing; all are flowing below the danger level.
