DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) today issued a strict warning to members of the Hajj management team, urging them to ensure disciplined and dedicated service for Bangladeshi pilgrims.
The minister, currently in Saudi Arabia to monitor Hajj operations, attended a special meeting on Hajj management at the invitation of Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jeddah, an official release said today.
The meeting, attended by ministers and officials from various countries, focused on coordination among Hajj offices, service improvement, transport management and compliance with approved regulations.
Participants also expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership for continued improvements in Hajj services.
The minister later attended the opening ceremony of the 50th Grand Hajj Symposium as a special guest, where religious scholars and officials from different countries took part.
Bangladeshi Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Md Delwar Hossain and other officials accompanied him.
At night, the minister visited a medical centre in Makkah serving Bangladeshi pilgrims.
He spoke with doctors, nurses and staff and urged them to ensure the highest standard of healthcare services.
Addressing members of the Hajj medical team, he warned that negligence in duty would not be tolerated.
He said strict action would be taken against those failing to perform responsibilities properly or engaging in unrelated activities.
He added that the Prime Minister is closely monitoring Hajj arrangements and has instructed officials to ensure maximum service for pilgrims.
He also said sincere and dedicated personnel would be rewarded.
Earlier, at a briefing at the Bangladesh Hajj Mission office, the minister reiterated that negligence may lead to disciplinary action, including withdrawal of travel-related privileges.
