Police issues security advice ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

Dhaka, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - Police Headquarters today issued a set of advice for ensuring safe and smooth celebration of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha.

The security instructions were made public in a press release signed by Police Headquarters AIG (Media and PR) Enamul Haque Sagar.
 
In the advice, all passengers have been urged to avoid crowds at trains, buses, launches and ferries during the Eid journey and plan Eid travel keeping sufficient time. 

The security advice requested travelers not to risk their lives by becoming additional passengers on the roof of a bus or traveling in trucks, pickups, and other goods-carrying vehicles as well as Nasimon, Karimon and Bhatovati on highways. 

It also urged passengers not to ask the driver to drive at a high speed and ensure that the driver follows the rules and does not engage in risky overtaking. It should be careful not to let an unprofessional, tired, or sick driver drive and do not share a vehicle with a stranger on the road.

The police advice also called for sincerity of boat owners to keep buoys with 100-150 feet long ropes and life jackets in their boats to avoid accidents. 

In addition, it advised not to run unfit and outdated vehicles on the highway and not to accept any food from any unknown person at bus terminals, railway stations and launch terminals on the way. 

It said passengers must be careful when buying soft drinks, green coconut or any other food from hawkers or peddlers.

The police headquarters urged all to call 999 for police assistance about fraudsters, aggan parties, malam parties and other groups of suspected people during the journey. 

It requested not to install makeshift cattle markets on highways and near railway lines and avoid overload on trucks, launches and boats.

Besides, it asked to pay lease money (hasil) against cattle following the prescribed rate. Inform nearest police if anyone demands excessive hasil or extortion. 

It suggested putting up a banner in front of the animal transport with the name of the destination or the animal market and using banking channels for money transactions at the livestock market. 

"If necessary, take police assistance (money escort) when carrying large amounts of cash. Be vigilant about counterfeit notes and immediately inform the nearest police if you suspect any counterfeit note," it said.

The security advice also warned about secret pin of bKash, Rocket, Ucash, Nagad, etc and avoid sharing the secret PIN number with anyone under any circumstances.

Install CCTV, archways and metal detectors and other technologies for security at shopping malls or markets.
