CHATTOGRAM, May 25, 2025 (BSS) – Two minor cousins tragically drowned after falling into an abandoned pond in Madhyam Bhumirkhil village of Sarafbhata Union under Rangunia upazila on Saturday evening.

The deceased were Anas, 07, son of Mohammad Ilyas, and Yasin Arafat, 05, son of Md. Forkan, both hailed from Saber Sawdagar's new house on the east side of the Rising School in the village.

Local UP member Md. Didarul Alam confirmed the incident and said the children went missing around 4:30 pm on Saturday and their bodies were recovered from the pond around 8:45 pm.  

After the children were rescued from the pond they were taken to the hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead. Their deaths have cast a pall of gloom over the area.
