DHAKA, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has assured the city residents of comprehensive security measures ahead of the November 13 Dhaka blockade programme of the banned Awami League (AL), saying there is “nothing to fear.”
“The DMP is capable of checking any kind of subversive acts. Alongside the police, RAB, army, BGB and different intelligence agencies have been put on high alert. So, there is nothing to worry with some isolated acts of the miscreants,” the Commissioner said at an urgently called press briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Mintoo Road today.
Sazzat urged the vehicle owners not to leave their vehicles unprotected and called upon city dwellers not to provide shelter to unknown persons without confirming their identities.
He also requested hotels and guest houses to rent out rooms only after collecting guests’ national identity cards.
Referring to the public’s role in maintaining law and order after the July Mass Uprising, he said, “We all have to resist those involved in plotting subversive acts.”
The Commissioner alleged that a banned political party has been attempting to disrupt law and order through propaganda on various online platforms.
As part of its plot to destabilize the situation, the party has reportedly been organizing flash processions, exploding crude bombs, and setting vehicles on fire in the capital by bringing its leaders and activists from different parts of the country.
According to the DMP, 552 individuals have been arrested from October 1 to November 11 after analyzing CCTV footage of subversive activities.
“Most of them have come from outside the capital,” Sazzat added.
