DHAKA, Oct 25, 2021 (BSS) - Digital flood forecasting and warning system has been inaugurated today to expedite the disaster managemen

   State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Faruk inaugurated the system at Pani Bhaban at Panthapath in the city as the chief guest.

   State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md Mohsin, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Secretary General Md Firoj Salah Uddin joined it as the special guests.

   Water Recourses Senior Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar chaired the function.

   Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), a2i, tech-giant Google, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies extended cooperation to the initiative under Water Resources Ministry.

   Zahid Faruk said that Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is now role model in disaster management.

   He said that the ministry has given flood forecasting messages to locals in digital system when the Teesta water level rose recently.
