LAXMIPUR, Feb 23, 2024 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) backed Advocate Jasim Uddin and Advocate Rahmat Ullah Biplob have been elected President and General Secretary (GS) respectively in Laxmipur District Bar Association election.

Chief election commissioner AKM Humayun Kabir last night declared the polls results of Laxmipur Bar election.

AL backed lawyer Advocate Jasim Uddin was elected president receiving 169 votes while his nearest competitor Advocate Ahmad Ferdaus Manik from BNP backed got 126 votes and Advocate Rahmat Ullah Biplob receiving 193 votes while his nearest competitor from BNP backed Advocate Md. Zahirul Alam got 183 votes.

Of the total 15 posts, Pro-AL backed lawyer panel secured six posts including president and general secretary, while BNP-backed candidate lawyer panel got five posts and Jamaat-backed candidate lawyer panel got rest three posts.

The voting of the election concluded around 4 pm starting from 10am
on Thursday.

A total of 383 lawyers out of 392 cast their votes.
