RAJSHAHI, Feb 15, 2024 (BSS)- A five-day 'Smart Bangladesh Tech Expo', a colourful showcasing of ICT products, began for the first time in the city today. 

  Local unit of Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) organized the exhibition at Swapnachura Plaza, a newly constructed multi-storey commercial building of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), supported by the city corporation.

   City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest, while State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak, MP, as guest of honour with BCS President Engineer Subrata Sarker in the chair.

   A total of 70 institutions related to technologies are taking part in the exhibition that will remain open from 11 am to 9 pm for the visitors. There are also nine pavilions.

   Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said they are working relentlessly for generating employment scopes after attaining significant success in the field of infrastructural development.

   They have already launched a skill development institute offering scopes of training on income generation related to freelancing for the unemployed youths. 

   Established at the tenth floor of the city bhavan's annex building, the institute will conduct four courses, Web design and development for freelancing, digital marketing for freelancing, graphics design for freelancing and video editing for freelancing, for the interested people. 

   Each of the courses will be four months with seat capacity 30.Each of the courses will have scopes of English spoken courses free of cost for boosting communication skills. 

   In his remarks, state minister Junaid Ahmed Palak said Bangladesh has been elevated to a middle-income digital country from the least incoming one during the last 15 years.

   "This is not our end point, we are marching for building Smart Bangladesh," he said, adding that the smart Rajshahi master plan has already been formulated.
