Bangladesh Coast Guard rescues 15 fishermen in sea

    DHAKA, Aug 13, 2021 (BSS)- Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone) has rescued 15 fishermen as their fishing boat got stranded due to engine failure in the Bay of Bengal.

    Coast Guard headquarters media officer Lieutenant Commander Amirul Haque confirmed the matter this noon.
     
    He said that on August 10, those fishermen from Mainuddin Ghat in Char Fashion Upazila of Bhola went to the Bay of Bengal for fishing.

    During that time, the engine of the boat broke down about 10 nautical miles from Hatiya's new channel, he added.
     
    The boat had been floating for two days, he said, adding that the fishermen  managed to seek help from the Coast Guard Station , Bhasanchar in the afternoon of August 12 while their boat came under the network 7 nautical miles which was away from the channel under Sandwip Police Station in Chattogram district.
     
    Being informed, a rescue team under the direction of the East Zone Staff Officer (Operations) rushed to the spot and managed to rescue 15 fishermen alive.

    The rescued fishermen were brought to Coast Guard Station, Bhasanchar and provided with food and medical treatment.
