DHAKA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) - Nepalese foreign minister Bala Nanda Sharma congratulated his Bangladeshi counterpart Dr. Khalilur Rahman on his appointment and held bilateral talks in Dhaka, focusing on expanding cooperation in trade, energy, connectivity and tourism.
The congratulatory message was conveyed during a meeting with foreign minister Rahman held at the state guest house Padma in the capital last evening.
During the talks, the two Foreign Ministers reviewed the longstanding and friendly relations between Nepal and Bangladesh, anchored in good neighbourliness, shared aspirations and deep-rooted cultural ties.
They discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral engagement with particular emphasis on enhancing economic partnership.
The deliberations highlighted significant untapped potential in trade and investment, cross-border energy cooperation, improved regional connectivity and tourism promotion.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working closely across bilateral, regional and multilateral platforms to advance the shared interests of the two countries and their peoples.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam and Director General Israt Jahan were present at the meeting.
The Nepalese Foreign Minister was accompanied by Nepal Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari, among others.
