DHAKA, Feb 13, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today called for an end to the "dark chapter" of old-style politics in the country and urged for a healthy, responsible political culture.

"We want the country to move beyond that dark chapter of old-style politics. A new era of healthy, constructive politics should prevail. We want a new, constructive political current to prevail, where everyone behaves responsibly. The nation will not tolerate any reckless or irresponsible actions," he said.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was speaking to journalists after a meeting of the 11-party alliance at the party's central office in Dhaka at 8:00pm, reviewing the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election results and the post-election situation.

Jamaat Ameer said, "Our youth have entrusted us with this mandate, risking their lives and shedding their blood. We promise that our struggle will continue until the commitments we made before the elections are fully implemented," he added.

During the meeting, senior leaders of the alliance discussed the election outcomes, irregularities reported in various constituencies, and strategies for future political engagement.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami's approach during the elections was guided by civility and a constructive outlook.

"Yesterday we acted with patience and generosity. If anyone interprets that as weakness, it will be their own undoing. We politely request all misconduct to stop immediately, and we expect positive intentions from all leaders," he said.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also addressed alleged electoral irregularities, including disruptions during result announcements, manipulation of result sheets, and inconsistent application of electoral rules in certain constituencies.

"In some areas, ballots for one candidate were accepted while others were rejected despite similar circumstances. These are serious questions that the Election Commission must resolve. We will seek remedies through proper channels, and if denied, we are prepared to take appropriate measures," he added.

Jamaat Chief said, "We love our country and want peace, order, and unity. Our slogan has always been a united Bangladesh, where all citizens are equal under the constitution. No one is above the law, and no one is subordinate to another."

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman underscored Jamaat's commitment to defending the rights and safety of women, ensuring justice for voters whose rights were undermined, and supporting citizens who backed democratic change. "We do not believe in politics of revenge, but we will ensure justice for those wronged. We will act firmly on behalf of the people," he added.

Jamaat Ameer also expressed gratitude to citizens who stood by the party and the 11-party alliance despite threats, harassment, and violence.

"Alhamdulillah, your support inspires us. We reaffirm our pledge to stand with the people and uphold their rights. Our struggle will continue until justice is fully realized, Insha'Allah. We thank everyone sincerely," he said.
