Jamaat's Rashedul Islam wins unofficially from Sherpur-1

DHAKA, Feb 13, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Rashedul 
Islam Rashed has unofficially secured victory in the Sherpur-1 constituency 
of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Rashed received a total of 1, 27,811 votes, comfortably defeating his closest 
rival Sunsila Jebrin of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who secured 
78,342 votes.

Election data also showed that in the constituency, 1,95,866 'yes' votes were 
cast, while 48,359 'no' votes were recorded.

In the Referendum, 1,51,337 voters cast votes for 'Yes' while 70,937 others 
cast 'No' votes. 

The information was formally announced by Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of 
the Election Commission of Bangladesh, during a press briefing today at the 
Result Collection and Dissemination Centre at Nirbachan 
Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon.
