DHAKA, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS)- BNP is confident of forming new government by winning more than two-thirds of seats in the 13th national general elections, spokesman of the party's Central Election Steering Committee and BNP Chairman’s Adviser Mahdi Amin has said.
He made this statement while speaking at a press conference at the BNP Election Steering Committee office in Gulshan here on Thursday night.
Mahdi Amin said BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has already won in both two constituencies- Bogura-6 and Dhaka-17 – unofficially from which he contested.
He alleged that since Wednesday night, BNP’s opponent has been involved in various types of fraud, forgery and various offenses, including capturing polling centres.
“Still, with the sincere love and support of the people, we have seen that the candidates of the ‘Paddy Sheaf’ are leading by a big margin in a large number of seats. Many have already been elected unofficially,” he said.
BNP, poured in the love of the people, will form the government by winning more than two-thirds of the seats with the support of the people, Mahdi Amin said, adding based on the information received so far, BNP is confident of this victory.
He said on the election day, many kinds of fraud, forgery and violence occurred in different places across the country. In particular, he said, election engineering was occurred to make certain candidates win in certain seats.
“There is enough reason to believe this. If we give an example, in Dhaka city alone, vote counting and declaration of results have been and are being deliberately delayed in several seats, including Dhaka-8, Dhaka-11, Dhaka-13 and Dhaka-16,” he added.
The spokesperson of the BNP's election management committee said a certain political party has spread propaganda and violated the electoral code of conduct to minimize the margin of BNP’s victory.
As a result, he said, this election engineering may have reduced the margin of defeat in certain seats and somewhat hindered the spontaneous participation of voters across the country.
Mahdi Amin congratulated the democratic people for their enthusiasm with which they voted for their preferred candidates and made them victorious.
Professor Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel, election management committee member Jubair Babu, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan, Shamsuddin Didar and Chhatra Dal central president Rakibul Islam Rakib were present, among others, at the press conference.
