DHAKA, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) - National Citizens’ Party (NCP) Central Election Management Committee Chairman Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan said that although irregularities were reported in some areas, the overall voting across the country was conducted in a fairly and peaceful manner.
“The overall electoral picture across the country suggested that voting was conducted in a largely orderly and acceptable manner,” he told an emergency press conference held at the party’s central office around 9:30 pm on Thursday.
Asif Mahmud said the party had received reports of irregularities in certain areas. However, he noted that the overall electoral picture across the country suggested that voting was conducted in a largely orderly and acceptable manner.
“The irregularities that occurred cannot be overlooked under any circumstances,” he said, urging the Election Commission (EC) and other responsible authorities to give due importance to the affected constituencies and take appropriate decisions in favour of the people.
He also called upon leaders and activists of the 11-party alliance, who had worked throughout the day, to remain vigilant at polling centres. “Even if preliminary results from some centres show us ahead, no centre should be left unattended. You must remain at the centres until the final results are announced,” he said.
Asif Mahmud further said party leaders and activists had already been instructed to stay alert. “If necessary, we will take any appropriate decision,” he added.
