Election being held peacefully across the country: EC Sanaullah

DHAKA, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) - Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah today said the 13th parliamentary polls and referendum are being held peacefully across the country.

"I cast my vote for the first time. Due to my service, I never got the opportunity to exercise my voting rights before. I am happy to see that the election is being conducted very peacefully nationwide," he said.

The Election Commissioner made the remarks while casting his vote with other family members at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College.

Commenting on the voting situation at the center, he said around 150 voters had cast their ballots within the first hour. He also interacted with polling agents, who expressed satisfaction with the atmosphere at the polls.

Sanaullah added that voters were coming and returning smoothly after casting their votes, and he hoped the election would continue to be conducted peacefully.

Assessing preliminary feedback from across the country, the commissioner said the voting process is progressing beautifully and peacefully. He also noted that in some rural areas, voter turnout has been high, and so far, no allegations of attempts to disrupt the elections have been reported.
