
Bagerhat, February 12, 2026 (BSS) - Voting has started in a festive mood across the four parliamentary constituencies of Bagerhat this morning, with a strong turnout at polling stations since dawn.
The district has 13,61,109 registered voters, including 6,82,737 men and 6,78,358 women, spread over 547 polling stations. Law enforcement agencies have deployed strict security, and no untoward incident has been reported so far.
First-time voters expressed excitement. Mahin, a third-year student at PC College, said, "I hope to restore sustainable democracy by voting for the first time".
Other voters shared similar sentiments. Mahbubur Rahman at Nagerbazar center said, "I feel relieved to vote after a long time." Another voter Mohibullah described the experience as "the joy of Eid."
The district administration said all arrangements have been made for a free, fair and peaceful election, including separate queues for women and elderly voters, adequate law enforcement, and round-the-clock monitoring.
Long queues and active participation are seen as a reflection of public trust in the democratic process.
