
THAKURGAON, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakfrul Islam Alamgir today cast his vote at Thakurgaon Government Girls High School Centre after offering prayers at the grave of his parents.
Later, he talked to local journalists and said, “A new journey of democracy has begun. We hope that this path will be smooth, and will lead our politics, economy, and country towards its intended goal.”
He said, “We have achieved this day through many struggles and in exchange of blood. In 17 years, millions of people have been killed, disappeared, and subjected to oppression. Today, people have achieved their right to vote.”
Fakrul expressed the hope that this election will be fair, free, and impartial and it will begin a new chapter for Bangladesh.
Replying to a query about some unpleasant incidents last night, he said, “Some evil forces who want to sabotage the elections are doing these things. We hope they will be defeated.”
Expressing optimism about their victory, the BNP Secretary General said, “We will win under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. Good governance and a smooth democratic system will be established in the country.”
