Fate of 203 candidates in 36 Khulna constituencies to be decided tomorrow

KHULNA, Feb 11, 2026 (BSS) - The fate of 203 candidates contesting 36 parliamentary seats across Khulna division, including Khulna metropolitan area, will be decided tomorrow.

Election officials said a keen contest is expected, particularly between the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, while several constituencies are set for two- or three-way races.

A total of 1,40,80,722 voters are registered in the ten districts of Khulna division, including 70,36,413 male, 70,44,175 female, and 134 third-gender voters.

In Khulna district's six constituencies, there are 20,78,253 voters - 10,33,851 male, 10,44,375 female, and 27 third-gender - with 38 candidates in the fray.

Bagerhat's four constituencies have 13,45,272 voters (6,73,627 male, 6,71,633 female, 12 third-gender) with 23 candidates.

Satkhira's four constituencies have 18,16,725 voters, including 9,10,367 male, 9,06,344 female, and 14 third-gender voters, with 20 candidates contesting.

In Jashore, six constituencies have 24,46,266 voters - 12,24,083 male, 12,22,159 female, 24 third-gender - with 36 candidates.

Chuadanga's two constituencies have 9,93,680 voters (4,95,002 male, 4,98,666 female, 12 third-gender), with six candidates.

Narail's two constituencies have 6,76,702 voters - 3,37,926 male, 3,38,771 female, five third-gender - with 16 candidates.

Jhenaidah's four constituencies have 15,76,771 voters, including 7,89,069 male, 7,87,686 female, 16 third-gender, and 21 candidates.

Magura's two constituencies have 8,39,777 voters - 4,22,503 male, 4,17,269 female, five third-gender - with 11 candidates.

Kushtia's four constituencies have 17,26,970 voters, including 8,61,154 male, 8,65,803 female, 13 third-gender - with 25 candidates.

Meherpur's two constituencies have 5,90,606 voters - 2,88,831 male, 2,91,769 female, six third-gender - with seven candidates.

Talking to BSS, Khulna Regional Election Officer Faisal Kader said all preparations have been completed to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.

"So far, no untoward incident has been reported anywhere. We hope for a smooth and credible election," he added.
