KHULNA, Feb 11, 2026 (BSS) - Leaders of the Khulna city unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday urged party activists and general people to remain vigilant at polling centres from after Tahajjud and Fajr prayers on election day to protect voting rights.
In a press release issued by the party's city media cell, BNP leaders described the upcoming parliamentary election as a decisive moment that will determine Bangladesh's future, saying it will decide whether democracy, development, and citizens' rights are restored or whether the country moves further into uncertainty.
The statement was signed by Khulna Metropolitan BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, Organising Secretaries Sheikh Sadi, Md Masud Parvez Babu, and Chowdhury Hasanur Rashid Miraj.
The leaders expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, the country can follow a path of inclusive development, strengthened accountability, and rule of law.
Warning of possible election-related conspiracies such as voter intimidation, polling centre occupation, and attempts to manipulate results, the BNP stressed the need for vigilance and unity among party members and the public.
The press release urged voters to attend polling centres after offering Tahajjud and Fajr prayers and to remain until voting and counting are complete. Voters were also asked to collect their result slips after casting ballots to ensure transparency.
"Losing voting rights means losing everything," the BNP statement said, calling on citizens to courageously participate to protect democracy and ensure a free, fair, and acceptable election.
