KHULNA, Feb 11, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna administration is holding a series of marathon coordination meetings involving the Election Commission, police, joint forces, and other government agencies to ensure a free, fair and impartial election.
As part of the preparations, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 55 Infantry Division, Major General J M Imdadul Islam, arrived at Khulna Stadium from Jashore on Tuesday to attend a law and order coordination meeting, a press release from Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Media Wing said.
Later, Major General Imdadul Islam chaired a meeting at the conference room of the 17 Bir Battalion Sadar Headquarters in Khulna with KMP Commissioner, Khulna district Superintendent of Police, and a representative of the district administration.
Rear Admiral A K M Zakir Hossain, Commander of Khulna Naval Area, also attended the meeting.
During the session, participants exchanged views on coordinated measures to ensure a transparent and impartial election.
Major General Imdadul Islam sought suggestions on strengthening coordination between the police and armed forces.
The KMP Commissioner requested that army and navy patrol teams promptly assist police at polling centers if law and order situations worsen. The GOC and the naval commander assured full cooperation.
Meanwhile, Khulna Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer A S M Jamshed Khondkar is providing directives in separate meetings today. Various departments of the district administration continue to stay engaged with election-related preparations.
