FARIDPUR, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has warned that strict action will be taken against election officials and law enforcement personnel if any irregularities occur at polling stations during the 13th national election, including ballot box snatching or fake voting.
He issued the warning on Monday while speaking as the chief guest at a law and order coordination meeting organized by the Faridpur District administration at the conference room of the District Commissioner’s office, aimed at ensuring the smooth holding of the election and referendum.
Addressing the gathering, the Home Adviser said the election would be free, fair, impartial, and festive, adding that unprecedented preparations have been taken.
He highlighted three key features that make this election different from previous ones that include deployment of the maximum number of law enforcement personnel, extensive training of the forces, and widespread use of modern information technology.
Chowdhury said body-worn cameras, CCTV, and drones are being used to ensure transparency, alongside the Election Security App developed by the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC).
The app will be activated once presiding officers and Ansar members depart for polling stations with election materials, he added.
The adviser instructed officials to ensure CCTV installation at every polling station and to construct boundary walls where necessary, even using bamboo if required.
He also emphasized strict security during the transportation of ballot boxes after voting and urged the presence of candidate representatives and adequate law enforcement during the counting of postal ballots, noting their potential impact on election outcomes.
Chowdhury further directed that reserve law enforcement forces be kept ready from dawn on election day until vote counting and result publication are completed.
Arrangements for food and logistics must be ensured, but he firmly warned that no officer should accept money, food, or any undue benefit from candidates or their representatives.
