DINAJPUR, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS) - To ensure a free, fair and peaceful election in the 13th national parliamentary polls, authorities have installed 4,993 CCTV cameras in 844 polling stations across six parliamentary constituencies of Dinajpur district.
Dinajpur Additional District Magistrate Nur-e Alam Siddiqui confirmed the information on Monday night, saying that for the first time CCTV cameras are being installed in every polling station in the district.
He added that renovation of polling stations has been completed since the election schedule was announced, and electricity connections have been provided to centres that previously lacked power supply.
The installation of CCTV cameras has been carried out under the supervision of the Dinajpur Education Engineering Department. By Monday night, cameras had been installed in all 4,993 polling booths located in 844 polling stations across 13 upazilas of the district.
Executive Engineer of the department, Md Belal Ahmed, said that high-quality CCTV cameras were installed as per the directives of the Election Commission. Trial runs of the cameras will begin from Tuesday morning to ensure full functionality before polling on February 12.
Dinajpur District Senior Election Officer Md Zilhaj Uddin said the use of modern surveillance technology will allow presiding officers to monitor activities inside polling booths more effectively. He expressed hope that the system would help quickly identify and prevent any untoward incidents, ensuring a peaceful and risk-free voting environment.
A total of 16,614 officials have been deployed for election duties in the district, including 887 presiding officers, 5,241 assistant presiding officers and 10,486 polling officers.
Of them, 2,587 officials are assigned to Dinajpur-1 (Birganj-Kaharol), 2,313 to Dinajpur-2 (Biral-Bochaganj), 2,553 to Dinajpur-3 (Sadar), 2,625 to Dinajpur-4 (Chirirbandar-Khansama), 2,957 to Dinajpur-5 (Parbatipur-Phulbari) and 3,599 to Dinajpur-6 (Birampur, Nawabganj, Hakimpur and Ghoraghat).
The senior election officer said polling officials were appointed after verification and clearance from relevant government agencies and have received training to conduct elections impartially and peacefully. No complaints have been received so far against the appointed officials.
He also said that on polling day, 26 executive magistrates and one judicial magistrate will be deployed in each upazila, supported by law enforcement agencies, to respond swiftly to any incidents and take legal action in accordance with Election Commission rules.
Dinajpur Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md Rafiqul Islam said all preparations have been completed to ensure a peaceful election. He reaffirmed that coordinated efforts with law enforcement agencies are in place to conduct the February 12 polls smoothly.
