FARIDPUR, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said there is no apprehension about holding the upcoming 13th national election in a free, fair, peaceful and credible manner, as the highest number of law enforcement personnel in the country’s history has been deployed.
“No apprehension is there, as the highest numbers of law enforcers have been deployed,” he said while responding to a question after attending a views exchange meeting with local administration officials, police, and other law enforcement agencies of disctrict.
The Home Adviser said that for the first time in a national election, Bangladesh Army personnel have been entitled to enter polling stations to help maintain law and order.
Referring to electoral violence, Chowdhury said incidents of violence so far are comparatively fewer than in any previous election at the same stage.
“We hope that the violence will not happen in the days to come and the situation will remain peaceful till the end,” he added.
Replying to another question, he said the meeting discussed preparations to deal with any imminent violence centring the election in the region.
The Home Adviser expressed satisfaction over the election preparations in the Faridpur region, noting that almost all polling stations have been brought under CCTV coverage.
He added that drone surveillance will also be used to monitor the situation.
“With the combined efforts of law enforcement agencies, local administration and all concerned, the election in the Faridpur belt will be held in a free, fair, credible, peaceful and festive manner,” he said, seeking wholehearted cooperation from all to ensure a smooth electoral process.
