RpMP issues public notice imposing restrictions on vehicles movement

RANGPUR, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS) - In order to organize the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election and Referendum in a fair, free, peaceful and impartial manner, the Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) has issued a public notice imposing restrictions on the movement of certain vehicles.
 
The public notice signed by RpMP Commissioner Md Majid Ali has been issued as per the instructions of the Election Commission and the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, a press release issued by the Rangpur Regional PID Office said here today. 
 
According to the notice, the movement of taxi cabs, pickups, microbuses and trucks will be prohibited from Wednesday (February 11) 12:00 midnight to Thursday (February 12) 12:00 midnight. 
 
In addition, the movement of motorcycles will be prohibited from Tuesday (February 10) 12:00 midnight to Friday (February 13) 12:00 midnight. 
 
Legal action will be taken against anyone violating this ban. 
 
However, this ban does not apply to vehicles used by law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration, journalists and permitted observers, vehicles used in support of disabled voters, vehicles used in emergency services such as ambulances, fire services, electricity, gas, postal, telecommunications and all types of vehicles carrying newspapers. 
 
Also, it does not apply to vehicles used for other urgent needs including the supply of emergency goods, medicines, food items and vehicles of passengers or relatives travelling to the airport (subject to showing a ticket or similar proof) and long-distance passenger vehicles or vehicles used for local travel as long-distance passengers. 
 
According to other conditions of the notification, this ban will be relaxed in the case of one vehicle for a rival candidate, one vehicle (jeep, car, microbus, small vehicle) for the election agent of the rival candidate (subject to the approval of the Returning Officer and display of the sticker), vehicles or motorcycles used by journalists, observers or emergency workers approved by the Election Commission. 
 
The notification also mentioned that this ban will be relaxed on important roads, highways and main roads connecting to national highways, inter-district or major roads for entering or exiting the metropolis.
