Talking to BSS, Additional District Magistrate Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui confirmed it to BSS on Monday night, saying that for the first time, CCTV cameras are being installed in every polling room at polling centres in this election.

He said that after the Election Commission announced the schedule for JS elections, renovation works at polling centres in the district's six constituencies were completed for voting purposes.

Electricity connections have also been provided to the polling centres that previously had no power supply, he added.

Under the supervision of the Dinajpur Education Engineering Department (DEED), installation of CCTV cameras in polling rooms began two days ago.

As of Monday night, installation of CCTV cameras in 4,993 polling rooms at 844 polling centres across the district's 13 upazilas has been completed.

All necessary measures have been taken to ensure the cameras remain functional ahead of voting on February 12, he added.

He said that after announcement of the election schedule, presiding, assistant presiding and polling officers were appointed following initial scrutiny and reports from government agencies.

The appointed officials were given training in phases at every upazila to familiarise them with all aspects of conducting peaceful and neutral polling in the current situation.
