DHAKA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS)- Referring to his party’s experience in running the state properly, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said they have a specific plan which requires for running the country in an appropriate manner, reiterating his call to vote for “Paddy Sheaf”.
“BNP has the experience on how to pull the country out of corruption, improve the law and order, provide employment to unemployed youths, and provide education to women. So I say, to properly run the state, a plan is needed, which BNP has,” he said.
Tarique Rahman said this while speaking at a election rally at Basabo Tarun Sangha ground in Dhaka in support of BNP’s Dhaka-9 candidate Habibur Rashid Habib.
“BNP has proven experience in combating corruption, ensuring strong law and order, expanding women’s education, and creating employment opportunities,” Tarique Rahman said.
Referring to past BNP governments, he said the Anti-Corruption Commission was kept fully independent during Begum Khaleda Zia’s tenure. He also credited BNP leadership with improving public safety and business confidence.
Tarique Rahman alleged that widespread corruption and money laundering over the past 16 years hindered real development in healthcare, roads, and basic infrastructure, despite large-scale projects.
He asserted that BNP alone has the capacity and experience to free the country from corruption.
The BNP chief said the forthcoming national election for February 12 next is not merely a voting exercise but a decisive moment for national reconstruction following the fall of dictatorship on August 5 in 2024.
“The upcoming national election is a historic chance to rebuild Bangladesh,” he said urging voters to use the rights they have regained through long struggle and sacrifice.
Highlighting local development plans, Tarique Rahman promised that if BNP is elected, development work in Dhaka-9 would begin immediately, including construction of playgrounds, expansion of hospital facilities, road development, elimination of waterlogging, and gradual replacement of bamboo bridges.
Calling Habibur Rashid Habib a “son of the area,” Tarique Rahman urged voters to elect him as their representative in the parliament who understands local problems and can effectively serve the people.
