BOGURA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - Students and people from various professions on Monday organized a bicycle rally in Bogura, seeking votes for BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Around 200 cyclists took part in the rally, which was held on the main roads of Bogura town in the morning. The programme was organized by leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal from different universities.
The organizers said bicycle rallies are globally recognized as initiatives to raise social awareness and promote environmental protection. They said Tarique Rahman, BNP’s candidate for the Bogura Sadar constituency, has placed special emphasis on environmental development as part of his vision for building the future of Bangladesh. Keeping this message in mind, the cycle rally was organized, they added.
Registration for the programme began two days earlier, with 250 people registering to participate. Most of the registrants were students, according to the organizers.
Mosaddek Rahman Sourav, vice-president of the Dhaka University Chhatra Dal unit, said Tarique Rahman became emotional after returning to Bogura following a long absence and addressing a gathering at Altafunnesa Field. He said the cycle rally aimed to convey BNP’s planned initiatives for environmental conservation to the people if the party comes to power.
Dr AKM Ahsan Habib Nafi said the youth want to see Bogura transformed into a smart city. “This initiative reflects our vision for building a future Bangladesh. I believe this small step will take us far one day,” he said.
The rally began at Altafunnesa Playground, passed through Circuit House, Satmatha and Azizul Haque College, and concluded at Altafunnesa Field.
