BAGERHAT, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS): The district administration has launched extensive miking operations across the city here to ensure strict enforcement of the electoral code of conduct ahead of the February 12 national parliamentary election and referendum. 

At the same time, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) mobile teams have intensified patrols on roads and at key locations to maintain law and order.

According to a public notice issued by the district administration, all forms of meetings, gatherings, rallies and processions will be prohibited in the four parliamentary constituencies -- Bagerhat-1 (95), Bagerhat-2 (96), Bagerhat-3 (97) and Bagerhat-4 (98) -- under Article 78(1) of the Representation of the People Order, 1972.

The ban will remain in force from 7:30am on February 10 to 7:30am on February 12 and again from 4:30pm on February 12 to 4:30pm on February 14. During this period, no one will be allowed to organize or participate in any public meeting or procession.

The notice also prohibits aggressive or disorderly behavior, voter intimidation, threats to election officials or law enforcement personnel and the display or use of weapons or force.

To raise public awareness, the District Information Office is conducting regular miking in important areas of the city. 

Meanwhile, BGB patrol teams are instructing people not to gather or engage in activities that could disrupt public order.

The administration has warned that no leniency will be shown against attempts to disturb law and order. Violators of the code of conduct may face rigorous imprisonment ranging from two to seven years, along with fines.
