DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman today emphasized that restoring law and order and ensuring public safety would be the party’s top priority if voted to power in the 13th national election scheduled for February 12 next.

“Our main goal is to rebuild the state and change the fate of the people,” he said, pledging a “zero tolerance” policy on corruption.

Speaking at an election road meeting at Lal Math Maidan in Dhaka-16, Tarique Rahman underscored that politics should focus on the public welfare rather than attacking opponents.

Outlining key initiatives, Tarique announced a “Family Card” to empower women economically and an “Agricultural Card” to support farmers, including waiving loans of up to Tk 10,000 for small and marginal farmers.

He also promised local improvements in Dhaka-16, including a modern hospital, solutions to water logging, better medical services, and easy-term loans for overseas employment to reduce unemployment.

Introducing BNP candidate Aminul Haque for Dhaka-16, Tarique handed over the party symbol, the “Sheaf of Paddy” to him. He urged voters to monitor the candidate’s work until election day, adding that he would ensure Haque focuses on constituency development after the polls.

Earlier, Tarique also addressed a road meeting at ECB Chattar in Dhaka-17, reaffirming BNP’s commitment to national welfare and governance reforms.
