PIROJPUR, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Central Organizing Secretary Advocate Bilkis Jahan Shirin on Saturday hoped people of  Zianagar upazila to cast their votes for ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ in the general election to be held on February 12 as the upazila considered as stronghold for BNP.

She made the remarks while addressing an election public meeting at the Indurkani (Zianagar) Government Degree College ground in Pirojpur on Saturday afternoon.

Shirin said that 24 years ago former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia declared Indurkani as an upazila and named it Zianagar. She said that Zianagar is the only upazila in the country named after Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

Referring to the party’s electoral symbol, she said the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ represents the legacy of President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. She urged voters to support BNP-nominated candidate Principal Alamgir Hossain, describing him as a person of clean image and likening him to a son of Begum Khaleda Zia.

She also highlighted the 31-point reform agenda announced by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, saying that a happy and prosperous Bangladesh would be built on the basis of these proposals if BNP comes to power.

Addressing the rally, BNP candidate Principal Alamgir Hossain outlined his election pledges, including development of the local area, creation of an economic zone in Pirojpur to boost employment, improvement of living standards for fishermen and farmers, and making the region free from drugs and corruption.

The meeting was presided over by Upazila BNP President Md Farid Ahmed. Among others, District BNP Convener Nazrul Islam Khan, Member Secretary SM Saidul Islam Kismat, and leaders from various levels of district and upazila BNP were present at the rally.
