3,081 Ansar-VDP members to deploy for election duty in Jhalakathi

JHALAKATHI, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 3,081 members of the Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP) will be deployed across the district for maintaining law and order situation during the upcoming referendum and 13th National Parliament elections. 

The personnel will be assigned to 237 polling stations across the district’s four upazilas to ensure a smooth and secure election process.

The announcement was made by Md. Ismail Hossain, District Commandant of Ansar and VDP, at an election preparatory rally held at the District Commandant’s office grounds this Saturday afternoon.

Abdus Samad, the Barisal Range Commander of Ansar and VDP, was the chief guest at the event. He highlighted the force's preparedness for the elections, emphasizing that the members have undergone modern training systems and have been equipped with technology-based management and integrated security strategies.

“The members have been preparing for their duties for the past one and a half years, through rigorous training and screening. With a special focus on young members, we are ready to ensure the security of the election process,” said Samad.

The rally was attended by several key local officials, including Sadar Upazila Officer Nirab Biswas, Rajapur Upazila Officer Ashalata, Kathalia Upazila Officer Saifunnahar, and Nalchiti Upazila Officer Suraiya Begum.

 Officers and trainers from various levels of the force at both the district and upazila levels were also present at the event.
