RAJSHAHI, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS) - BNP-nominated candidate for Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency Mizanur Rahman Minu said he wants to serve the people, not rule over them, pledging transparency, accountability and good governance if elected.
"I have not come to practice politics of power; I have come to serve the people. If you elect me, I will ensure transparency, accountability and good governance. No corruption or irregularities will be tolerated," Minu said.
He made the remarks while conducting door-to-door outreach and electioneering at Binodpur Bazar in Ward No. 30 (South) of Rajshahi Metropolitan City on Friday.
Minu said the BNP has always stood for people's voting rights and democracy and continues that struggle even today. "Only through a free, fair and credible election can the true representatives of the people be elected," he added.
Addressing local voters, Minu said, "Your love and support are my strength. I want to stand by you in both joy and sorrow. I have entered the field with a commitment to remain by your side."
During interactions, local residents raised various problems affecting their areas. The candidate listened attentively and assured them of swift solutions if elected. Many voters expressed hope, saying it was encouraging to see a candidate come directly to listen to their concerns.
Minu said residents of the ward have long been deprived of their rightful civic services. "Roads are dilapidated, the drainage system is ineffective, and waterlogging during the monsoon causes severe public suffering. I am contesting the election to address these problems," he said.
He carried out outreach activities across different neighborhoods, main roads and market areas of the ward, holding roadside meetings, distributing leaflets and organizing courtyard meetings.
Leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations accompanied him throughout the campaign.
The outreach created a festive atmosphere across the ward, with party leaders and activists raising slogans in support of Minu and the BNP's sheaf-of-paddy election symbol.
