DHAKA, Feb 6, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson's Adviser and Chief Coordinator of the party's election management committee for the Dhaka-17 constituency Bir Muktijoddha Abdus Salam today said the people of Dhaka have historically stood against injustice and conspiracy.

"Votes of Dhaka's people can never be bought. This will once again be proven in the upcoming election on February 12. This time too, they will vote for democracy, freedom and development," he said.

Abdus Salam made the remarks while addressing an election rally in support of BNP candidate Hamidur Rahman in the Dhaka-7 constituency today.

He said the BNP has always ensured equal rights for all citizens, irrespective of gender. He claimed that a certain group is attempting to mislead the election process, but expressed confidence that the people of Dhaka would not fall into any conspiracy.

Addressing voters, Abdus Salam said casting a vote alone is not enough, urging them to remain vigilant throughout the day on February 12 to ensure that no opportunity for irregularities or vote rigging arises.

The BNP leader further said that if Hamidur Rahman, a son of Old Dhaka, is elected, he would play an effective role in accelerating the development of the area.
