Army Chief holds view-exchange meeting at Gulistan Army Camp centering JS polls

DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - Chief of the Army Staff General WaKer-Uz-Zaman 
today held a view-exchange meeting with the civilian administration at 
Gulistan Army Camp in the National Stadium centering the upcoming 13th Jatiya 
Sangsad (JS) Election and Referendum, slated for February 12 next.

During the visit, the Army Chief exchanged views with high-level military 
officials of Dhaka Metropolitan, divisional and district administration and 
various law enforcement officials, said a release of the Inter-Services 
Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate this evening.

In the meeting, inter-institutional coordination and overall security 
management were discussed to ensure the upcoming polls in a fair, peaceful 
and impartial manner.

The Army Chief laid special emphasis on performing duties through 
professionalism, impartiality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly 
behavior, the ISPR mentioned.

During the visit to the capital, the General Officer Commanding of Army 
Training and Doctrine Command, GOC of 9 Infantry Division and Savar Area 
Commander and Army Headquarters, senior military officers of Dhaka and Savar 
areas as well as the Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka, senior officers of the 
civil administration and law enforcement agencies, and representatives of 
various media outlets were present there.

Earlier, the Army Chief also exchanged views with senior military, civil 
administration officials of all divisions and districts and various law 
enforcement agencies in Dhaka, Chittagong, Cumilla, Rangpur, Bogura, 
Barishal, Jashore, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Ghatail and Savar areas from January 
22, 2026.

It is with the aim of strengthening inter-institutional and inter-service 
coordination among all organisations performing electoral duties, focusing on 
the upcoming elections, the ISPR added.
