DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) — Chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Additional Inspector General of Police Md. Sibgat Ullah has underscored the highest importance of neutrality, honesty and professionalism in discharging electoral duties ahead of the 13th national parliament election and referendum scheduled for February 12.

He made the remarks while briefing the CID field-level members at the CID headquarters at Malibagh in the capital, said a CID press release.

All district-level CID units across the country joined the event virtually.

In his address, Sibgat Ullah described electoral responsibility as a “sacred trust” for all members of the Bangladesh Police, including the CID.

He said maintaining neutrality and professionalism during the election process is both a moral and institutional obligation.

The CID chief noted that all CID members assigned to field duties have already received special election training on do’s and don’ts from Bangladesh Police Headquarters.

He added that senior local officials in election areas would provide further necessary briefings prior to polling day to ensure effective coordination among the various forces and organizations involved in election security.

Emphasizing impartial conduct, he instructed officers to arrange their own food and personal necessities during duty hours and strictly refrain from accepting food, assistance or cooperation from any individual or group, so that impartiality is not questioned under any circumstances.

Sibgat Ullah also called on officers to maintain a smart and disciplined outlook, wear police uniforms with dignity, and perform their duties with patience, restraint and discipline.

He clearly directed that no police member on election duty is allowed to share election-related photos, posts, comments or information on social media, nor take photographs with candidates or political figures.

Concluding the briefing, the CID chief expressed optimism, saying he was fully confident that through dedication, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility, CID members would help ensure a peaceful, fair and impartial election—an achievement he said would be a matter of pride for the entire force.
