RAJSHAHI, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur
Rahman has pledged to transform the Dental Unit of Rajshahi Medical College
into a full-fledged Dental College.
He made the commitment while addressing a public election rally of the 11-
party electoral alliance at the historic Madrasa Maidan in Rajshahi as the
chief guest this afternoon.
In his speech, the Jamaat Ameer said, Rajshahi has some problems. Problems
exist everywhere-because justice has not been established and because
political leaders lack commitment to the country.
There is an old medical college here. A dental unit was added to it, but what
is needed is a dental college. An initiative was taken, but it has fallen
asleep.
He said: "If you give responsibility to the people of your choice, you won't
have to do anything yourselves. We will search out and address everything to
serve the nation. We will pull your dental college awake and bring it into
operation."
He further said, "Sugar mills are running at a loss. Why should they be loss-
making? Sugarcane grows in our country's soil. Our country's workers do the
work. Then, why?
"If your verdict is reflected, from the 13th onward there will be no need to
say anything-automatically many people's ears and noses will be opened.
Bangladesh will find a new path, InshaAllah", the Jamaat Chief added.
Speaking on the demand to ensure gas supply in Rajshahi, he said, "It has
been said that CNG supply should be ensured here. Yes, we have not yet been
able to extract our resources from the sea. If Allah grants us the ability,
we will not bow to anyone's intimidation, InshaAllah. We will make every
effort to bring the country's resources out for the people of the country."
From the rally, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman handed over the Scales (Dari-Palla)
election symbol to the candidates of the six parliamentary constituencies in
Rajshahi.
Several central leaders of the 11-party alliance also addressed the rally,
which was organised by Rajshahi District and Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami.
Earlier in the afternoon, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman addressed another
public rally at the Mahishalbari Women's Degree College ground in Godagari
upazila, where he also sought votes in favor of "The Scales" symbol.
