TANGAIL, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - A ‘Janatar Sangjog’ telephone booth was inaugurated in Tangail-5 (Sadar) constituency on Thursday to facilitate direct communication between voters and their parliamentary candidate ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections.

Sultan Salauddin Tuku, BNP candidate for Tangail-5 and the party’s publicity secretary, formally inaugurated the phone booth at Dainna union in Sadar upazila in the afternoon.

According to party sources, a total of 30 ‘Janatar Sangjog’ phone booths will be installed in phases across the Tangail-5 constituency under Tuku’s initiative. Of these, 12 booths will be set up in 12 unions, while the remaining 18 will be established in 18 wards of the Tangail municipality.

The booths will be located at union parishad and ward levels to ensure easy public access. Through these booths, local residents will be able to directly communicate with Tuku to share their problems, complaints, and needs. If elected, constituents will be able to report local issues directly without intermediaries.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Tuku said many people complain that elected representatives are not easily accessible. “This initiative has been taken to eliminate that complaint. Each booth will have a telephone, and by pressing a button, people will be directly connected to my phone. Anyone can speak to me directly on any issue,” he said.

He added that after the election, people would not need to go through anyone else to reach him. “If you elect me, you will find me sitting in your union, God willing. You work for me for a few days, and I promise to remain engaged in your service for the next five years,” he said.

Tuku has been actively engaging with voters across the constituency through new public outreach strategies, including direct interaction, listening to local problems, and outlining proposed solutions and development plans.

Local residents said the initiative could play a significant role in reducing the gap between public representatives and ordinary citizens.

Recently, Tuku presented a 23-point development plan aimed at the overall transformation of Tangail. His election pledges include making Tangail a safe, drug-free and extortion-free model city, as well as creating employment opportunities for educated youth.
