Ctg DC urges polling officers to perform duties with honesty, impartiality

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) – Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zahidul Islam Miah has urged polling officers to perform their duties with honesty, impartiality, and integrity to protect the country’s image.

“Dishonesty cannot be tolerated in any form. The country must be built on a sound system, and we aim to move forward toward peaceful statehood,” he said.

The Deputy Commissioner made the remarks as chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with polling officers in Satkania this morning. The event was organized by the Upazila Administration and Upazila Election Office at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium.

Senior District Election Officer Mohammad Bashir Ahmed stressed the importance of voters exercising their voting rights properly, warning that improper voting could lead to chaos. He urged voters to fulfill their responsibility diligently.

Chattogram District Police Superintendent Nazir Ahmed Khan acknowledged voters’ past contributions to elections and reminded them of their ongoing responsibilities. He emphasized adherence to lawful orders and instructions to maintain order, noting that police are ready to act if necessary.

Major Akhlaf, Deputy Commander of the 9 Field Regiment Artillery, assured that the army would protect and secure polling officers at every station and respond to any disturbances within 2–3 minutes.

The meeting was chaired by Satkania Upazila Executive Officer Khondaker Mahamudul Hasan, with Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Shamsuzzaman moderating. Ansar VDP District Commandant Mostaq Ahmed also addressed the attendees.
