COX’S BAZAR, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today said Cox’s Bazar would be developed into an international-standard tourist destination through the establishment of justice, good governance, and the elimination of corruption.

Addressing an election rally at Baharchara Gol Chottor here, he said, “Despite its vast tourism potential, Cox’s Bazar failed to evolve into a world-class destination like Singapore or Shanghai as corrupt, dishonest and criminal networks took control of the system.”

Describing the upcoming election as a route to restructuring the state and ending a political culture that repeatedly produced authoritarianism, Dr Shafiqur said, “This is not an election like those of 2008, 2014, 2018 or 2024. This election is for changing the state.”

“The election is expected to fulfil the aspirations of the July martyrs and fighters and pave the way for a new Bangladesh from the day after the polls,” he said.

The Jamaat Ameer said women would be honoured and provided full security at home, on the streets, and at workplaces, adding that the state would bear their educational expenses.

He said these initiatives should not be considered discrimination, describing them as women’s rightful entitlements.

Expressing determination to serve the people, he said, “Government offices would not be run as offices of any political party, and officials and employees would serve the republic professionally and impartially.”

He also vowed to ensure justice for all, irrespective of caste, race, religion, or position, and stressed the need to establish a standard university in Cox’s Bazar.

Calling upon voters to support the candidates of the 11-party alliance, he expressed hope that the people’s verdict would be reflected in the ballot boxes in the upcoming election.
Abdullah Al Farook, Ameer of Cox’s Bazar Jamaat-e-Islami, has been nominated as the candidate for the Cox’s Bazar-1 constituency by the Jamaat-led alliance.
Speaking at the rally, he said, “We promise that if elected, the syndicate system will be dismantled and justice-based governance ensured. The Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar highway will be upgraded to six lanes to improve the lives of people here.”

“In South Chattogram, where there is currently no university, a university will be established. From that initiative, a public university will be set up in Chakaria, Insha’Allah,” he added.

“We want to transform our youth into a productive force by ensuring employment and build this country into a beautiful, prosperous, secure, terrorism-free and discrimination-free Bangladesh,” he said.
