BAGERHAT, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - An election rally in support of the 'Daripalla' (the Scales) symbol was held by the 11-party alliance this afternoon in the Mandra Badokhali area of Bishnupur Union, Bagerhat Sadar Upazila.
The rally was presided over by Bishnupur Union Jamaat-e-Islami President Saidur Rahman.
Sheikh Manjurul Haque Rahat, the 11-party nominated candidate, addressed the rally as the chief guest. He said, "If elected with your votes, I will serve the people. My main goal will be to uphold their rights, not misuse power."
He pledged to reclaim and re-excavate canals long controlled by influential individuals, ensuring they benefit the public. "Opening these canals will restore agricultural balance, improve the environment, and resolve waterlogging," he said.
Sheikh Rahat also emphasized building a corruption-free Bagerhat and called for public cooperation to establish a just society by prioritizing education, health, and employment. He urged voters to support the "scales" symbol for justice-based politics.
Sheikh Mohammad Yunus, Bagerhat District Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, spoke as a special guest, praising Sheikh Rahat as an honest and capable candidate. Other speakers included Jamaat leader Sheikh Kamrul Alam, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis district Amir Maulana Ramiz Uddin, Khelafat Majlis leader Amir ul Alam Siddiqui, Jatiya Nagorik Party district convener Syed Morshed Anwar Sohel, Advocate Mostain Billah, Maulana Mizanur Rahman Mallick, Maulana Shahidul Alam, Maulana Liaquat Hossain, and labor leader Professor Shahidul Islam.
Speakers said that the victory of the "scales" symbol in the upcoming election would help secure people's rights and establish justice in the region.
