Training for presiding officers held in Khulna

KHULNA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - A training programme for presiding officers was held today at Khulna Public College in preparation for the upcoming national parliamentary election and referendum-2026.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner (Additional Secretary) Md Mokhtar Ahmed attended the programme as the chief guest, while Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan was present as a special guest.

Addressing the trainees, Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhtar Ahmed urged the Presiding Officers to carry out their duties with patriotism, neutrality and fairness, learning from past mistakes and shortcomings. He said election-related officials are now fully prepared to ensure a free, fair and impartial election through proper training.

Speaking on the occasion, KMP Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan praised the recent activities of the law enforcement agencies and said the police force remains firmly committed to safeguarding people's voting rights, freedom of expression and democratic values.

He assured the Presiding Officers that they would act as the chief administrative authority at their respective polling centres on election day, and the police would strictly follow their instructions.

As part of the election security measures, adequate numbers of police and Ansar personnel will be deployed at each polling centre. In addition, mobile and striking forces comprising members of the Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Navy and Coast Guard will remain on patrol.

Police personnel will also be equipped with body-worn cameras directly connected to higher authorities. The KMP Commissioner further said that Quick Response Teams (QRTs) would be able to reach any polling centre within five minutes in case of emergencies.

Among others, Khulna Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate A.S.M. Jamshed Khondker, Principal of Khulna Public College Lt Col Munir Abbas, district and regional election officers, and Presiding Officers were present at the programme.
