We won't touch public resources, returning looted wealth our commitment: Jamaat Ameer

DHAKA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today reaffirmed his party's firm commitment to never misuse public resources, stating that corruption is against the party's principles.

"Corruption does not align with our character and values. Instead, it is our duty to return the wealth that has been looted from the people," he told a rally before a public procession in the Dhaka-15 constituency.

The rally, organized in the North Kafrul 4 No. Ward, took place at the front of the East Baishteki Cemetery Mosque at 4:30 PM.

Dr. Shafiqur also expressed his concern for the feelings of the people, particularly women, stating, "If any of our words have hurt a mother or sister, we ask for their forgiveness for the sake of Allah. We seek Allah's acceptance to serve the people with sincerity. We do not wish to implement any personal or factional agendas."

Jamaat central committee Executive Member Mobarak Hossain, Central Majlis-e-Shura Member and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Dhaka North Abdur Rahman, Central Vice-President of Bangladesh Sramik Kollan Federation Laskar Md. Tazlim, former President of Chhatra Shibir Jahidul Islam and DUCSU GS SM Farhad were also present on the occasion. 

The procession that followed the rally traversed the local roads as participants chanted slogans calling for a just society and a corruption-free country.
